Ira Wysocki Obituary

WYSOCKI
Ira Belle Wallace Wysocki passed away on August 26, 2012, at the age 90. She was born in Durham, North Carolina, on February 9, 1922. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Col. (Ret.) Bernard Wysocki, her parents Fletcher and Claudia Carrington Wallace, her sister Margaret Sherrill, and her two brothers Charles and David Wallace. She is survived by her brother Ronnie Wallace, many nieces and nephews, her grandson Kanon Lillemon, and her daughter Claudia Michelle Lillemon, Ph.D. who is most thankful for her tireless support and for seeing her potential and helping her to achieve to that level. During her almost 60 years of marriage she traveled the world supporting her husband's Army career. After his retirement in San Antonio she returned to Civil Service until her retirement in 1989 from the X-ray Branch at Ft. Sam Houston where she served from 1976 - 1989. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association Mission City Chapter and the Officer's and Retired Officer's Wives Clubs. She loved her dogs, cooking, fashion, playing bridge and golf and playing the organ which she began as a youth in her father's church, along with singing in the choir. Her youthful spirit and joy for life will be missed.
She was most thankful for Second Baptist Church, her Pastor Rev. Dr. Robert L.Jemerson and the many members who were so caring, kind and compassionate. You enhanced and blessed her last years of life with Christian love and for this her family will always be appreciative. Visitation will be held Monday, September 3, 2012, from 5-7PM at Second Baptist Church, 3310 E. Commerce St. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at 12PM at the church. Following the service she will be laid to rest at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. For expressions of sympathy log on to www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com.

Ms. Wysocki,

May you rest in peace. Thank you for all of your kind words and encouragement. May your family stay strong during this time. Those from the X-ray branch salute you!

Working with Ms. Wysocki at the Radiology Branch for her entire time there, Ira was a true professional with her experience, wisdom and organization. There were times when we all thought that SHE should be wearing the officer bars and running things. Although I think she had opportunities to accept better paying positions, she stayed with us out of sense of loyalty and committment. Ira was a great role model for us all, military or civilian.
