Michael Seaman Obituary

Longtime Kenai resident Michael James Seaman, 69, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 of natural causes at his home.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Our Lady Of The Angels Church, 225 S. Spruce Street in Kenai.
Mike was born Dec. 12, 1943 in San Diego, California. The Seaman family moved to Alaska in 1952 and homesteaded in Nikiski. He attended Kenai Territorial School and graduated from Kenai High School. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Kenai. Mike enjoyed cooking at The Kenai Alternative High School every Friday morning. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, motorcycles, wood working, building and his family.
The family wrote, "Mike met Joan, his wife of 39 years, the summer of 1971. They raised their family on the Peninsula and after 45 years, he semi-retired from Mike's Appliance Repair, keeping some of his special customers, just enough to keep him busy. He loved life, filling his days riding motorcycles, snowmachining, tinkering in his garage, and coming up with crazy adventures to go on with Joan and Scruffy. Mike loved spending as much time as possible with his grandkids."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Elsie Seaman and brothers, David and John, and his father-in-law, Leon Quesnel.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Seaman of Kenai; daughters, Michelle Teates and her husband, Jon of Kenai and Julie Cruse and her husband, Josh of Casper, Wyoming; grandkids, Nathan and Lily Teates, and Devin, Therese and Cecile Cruse; mother-in-law, Mary Quesnel of Kenai; brothers-in-law, Alan Quesnel and his wife, Chriee of Eagle River, Paul Quesnel of Anchorage, and Brian and his wife, Lisa Quesnel of Nikiski; sister-in-law, Odette Jamieson and her husband, Gary of Eagle River; five nieces and nephews and a sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to your favorite charity.
Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel. Please visit his online guestbook at www.alaskanfuneral.com.

Michelle, Joan, and family,

I'll always remember Mike's ready smile and joking cheerful nature. He was one of the good guys. The world is a little sadder now, without his laughter brightening the corners.

I wish I could be at the memorial service, but please know my thoughts and prayers are with you.
