Rose Long Obituary

Long, Rose Marie COHOES Rose Marie Long, 81, of Younglove Ave. and formerly of Waterford died suddenly Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at her residence. Born and educated in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Melvina Richards Brown. Rose Marie had been employed for 37 years by the New York State Department of Labor and retired in 1987. She was a member of the C.S.E.A. She was an avid bowler and belonged to the Latham Seniors League at Latham Bowl. She was also a Bingo enthusiast and enjoyed traveling. Rose Marie is the widow of Joseph C. Long who died in 2009. The couple was married for 46 years. She is survived by her sister, Beatrice M. Rivet (late Harvey) of Cohoes and is predeceased by a brother, Gordon Brown. She is the aunt of Cheryl Berthiaume, Pamela Brown, and Raymond Brown, all of Cohoes and the late Keith Rivet. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Helen Brown of Cohoes, as well as several grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside committal service on Tuesday, July 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford. Those who wish may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Disease Association in care of the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford, NY 12188.
