I can´t believe it has been so many years since your passing. I remember a day in early September 1966 when we left Newport for URI, 115 Weldon Hall. We thought we were so grown up. We had a good start there. Now you are gone from this earth and I am an old lady. Caroline

Marie was my sisters good friend, we were next door neighbors on Hunter Ave in Newport. I was four years old when I first saw Marie, she must have been maybe 12, I was immediately infatuated with my sister´s friend.

Marie ... you were so much scintilating fun at Sheepranch. Erik and I loved your company. You will be forever in my memories of the good times we all had in California all those so many years ago. Thanks for bringing so much joy to so many people. See you on the other side of the River, my love.

Marie loved bowling as well. She was the secretary of the bowling league in Japan Town when I was president. That is how we met. This photo was taken at my sisters wedding on the Queen Mary in Long Beach CA around 1993. I just found this page yesterday looking for her on Facebook. We took long hikes looking at all of life, especially wildflowers. She loved trips to Sheep ranch and Wilbur Hot Springs and was a big fan of Cirque du Soleil.
I love her very much too

I just tried to call for our usual bday greeting and got a disconnect on her phone. I googled and cried for an hour before I could post this. Marie and I were friends at college in the same dorm freshman year and she is the reason I came to San Fancisco. We kept in touch over the years and it was like we were back in school every time we talked. Reading these posts just confirms how special she was to all of us. She would want us to driink a beer in her honor.

Lovely Miss Gobidas ~
Truly one of the most original and unpretentious people I have ever met.
You had an amazing energy that will forever stay with me. I remember you used to sleep outside on the porch during a full moon so you could 'bath in the moonlight.'
Thank You for so many things! Introducing me to San Francisco, 'The Frugal Gourmet,' bulgogi and teaching me how to cook.
I'm so sad and shocked that I'm just learning of this now ...
You are deeply missed.
Love always ~ Em

Marie and I met in junior high school and have been friends since. We did not keep in close touch but did the birthday check in and the what's up every six months or so.
She lived with me in Los Gatos for a year or so in the late 80's. We had great fun visiting and doing crazy things over the years.
I am so shocked and sadden at her passing. But, I am sure she is showing others new ways to look at things and have fun.
My condolences to her sisters, family & friends.

Although I had not been in contact with Marie for many years, she had been on my mind. Having recently retired, I was looking forward to reconnecting with old friends. We were friends in Newport, beginning in 1962, thru junior high and high school, and we were roommates at URI for freshman year. We grew up together during those years. We shared many good times. I am so sorry I will not have the opportunity to know her in our "golden years." My thoughts and prayers go to Terry, Pauline, and Grace. Your sister Marie was unique, and I was a better person for knowing her.

Marie's sudden pass is very hard to me. She is a very special person in my life. She is kind, courageous, humorous and stylish:)? I admire her great attitude in life which is so optimistic and inspiring. I love her smile and like to laugh together with her on her jokes. I cherish the time we hang out after work, especially our "Dancing with Stars" reviews and the Vegas trip. I miss you dearly, Marie. But, “have you had fun yet” in the other world? I bet you…

We have a wonderful remembrance for Marie today at UC San Francisco Global Health Sciences. Everyone brought treats (including a banana cake with peanut butter frosting and Marlboro decorations) and a story. We all miss our Marie, but were able to share some lovely thoughts.

I wish this photo wasn't so blurry. Here I am with Marie in my living room. On the TV behind us: results of the 2008 Presidential Election. Barack Obama had just been declared the winner. It was such a happy night, both inside and out on the streets of the Mission in SF. I always remember who I was with that night, and am thrilled that Marie was among us.
Marie has been a dear friend to me for almost 8 years. She didn't hold back -- that's a quality that too few people have. She was a mixture of friend, nurterer, disciplinarian, wild child, comedienne ... so many things. She had the grace and stature of a dancer. A few years ago when I was going through a difficult time, she was very supportive and kind, and she gave me a Susan B. Anthony dollar to carry with me as a reminder of the strength women possess. I will keep it always. I'm sending you my love, Marie.

I will miss my gal Marie. She was a warm, funny, and loyal friend. We spent many fun times together, and one of those times happen to be the Tuesday before she passed. So grateful for one final dinner with a kindred spirit. Rest in peace dear friend.

I became friends with Marie through work when I still lived in San Francisco. We used get together crepes and white wine at Ti Couz on 16th Street. She always brought a smile to my face with her colorful stories and insights. I'm very saddened by her death but am happy to learn that she was still doing all the things she loved to do (such as taking trips to Vegas!) right up to the time of her death. I will remember her as someone who lived with joy and energy for life.

Marie was my best friend for 23 years. When I retired in September 2011, I left San Francisco and moved to Coos Bay, Oregon, where she was visiting me when she suffered an aneurism. I was deeply in love with Marie and wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I will love Marie forever, and I miss her so much!
