U.S. VeteranGerard D. “Jerry” Morneau, age 83, of Piper Drive in Strafford, formerly of Farmington, died September 16, 2013 at the Rochester Manor.

Born November 22, 1929 in Dover, NH the son of Antoine Joseph and Emma (Belanger) Morneau, he was a graduate of Dover High School and had attended UNH. He most recently resided on Bow Lake in Strafford, where he enjoyed the lake and its surroundings. He had resided in Farmington, NH for over 43 years.

A Decorated Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, he retired from General Electric in Somersworth, after 37 years of service in manufacturing and engineering. He was a Past President of the General Electric Employees Association and a Past President of the General Electric Credit Union. He was a member at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Farmington.

Jerry was an avid golf and NASCAR racing fan, a member of the American Legion, a former member of Dover Lodge of Elks and a former active member of Cocheco Country Club.

Widower of Joan Morneau, who died in 1996, he is survived by daughter: Meredith Anne Stamnas and her son: Christos Stamnas of Strafford, and son: R. Joseph “Joe” Morneau and wife Wendy Lee (Patriquin) and their children: Owen Morneau, Heather and Brent Fortin, all of Milton. A special thanks to Patricia Munck of Strafford for her loyalty, friendship and help to the family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Peter’s Church, 90 Central Street in Farmington, NH. Urn interment will follow the Mass at Lake View Cemetery in Wolfeboro.
