AIKEN, S.C. - Mr. Clarence Jack Rogers, 81, died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM at St. Johns United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. George K. Howle officiating. Interment will follow in historic Bethany Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clyde Rogers, Darrel Rogers, Eddie Rogers, Greg Rogers, Eric Sandburg, Zack Knight, T.J. Knight, Clyde Condrey Jr. and Jimmy Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers will be Aiken Department of Public Safety Volunteer Fire Fighters, Aiken Masonic Lodge No. 156, and all of the current and former employees of Jack Rogers Tire. Born in Washington, GA in 1932, Jack was a son of the late Wynell and Clyde Rogers. After moving to Aiken in 1952, he opened Jack Rogers Tire in 1975. Jack was a member of St. Johns Untied Methodist Church, Aiken Rotary, Boy Scouts Troop 121, Shrine Club, York Rite, Aiken Masonic Lodge No. 156, and was a Paul Harris Scholar. He was a retired volunteer firefighter with Aiken Department of Public Safety. Survivors include a daughter: Margaret Virginia "Jenny" (Wade) Johnson, Aiken, SC; two sons; Clarence Jack (Mary) Rogers, Jr., Waxhaw, NC, James Holloway (Mariruth) Rogers, Aiken, SC; grandchildren: William Wade (Erin) Johnson, Jr., Elizabeth Ann (Joey) Lott, Steven (Kim) Rogers, Kate Rogers, Michael James Rogers; great grandchildren: John Rogers, Evan Rogers, Carleigh Johnson; brothers: Wendell Rogers, Athens, GA and Ernie (Frankie) Rogers of Washington, GA; sisters-in-law: Ruth Rogers and Margie Rogers of Washington, GA, Martha Blanco, North Augusta, SC, Sandra Sandberg, Raleigh, NC; and brother-in-law: Don (Billie) Sprawls, Aiken, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dr. Mary Ann Sprawls Rogers; his daughter, Master Corporal Sandra "Sandy" Rogers; four brothers, Lewyn, Quinton, Allen and Grady Rogers and a sister, Helen McDowell. Memorials may be made to St. Johns United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St., NW, Aiken, SC 29801.
