Aubin Mura Obituary

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mr. Aubin Mura, age 77 of North Augusta, entered into rest Sunday, January 12, 2014 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from the chapel of Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue, Augusta, GA., with Dr. Riaz Rassekh and Dr. Jan Perry officiating. Committal services will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Aubin was born on October 19, 1936 in Augusta, Georgia. He graduated from Boys Catholic High School and then enlisted in the Navy, where he served on the early nuclear submarines the USS Skate (the first to successfully surface at the North Pole), and the USS Permit until 1963. After the Navy, Aubin attended Augusta College and then continued on at Georgia Tech, where he earned a BS in Industrial Engineering in 1973. Always a strong enthusiast of education, Aubin also earned a Masters degree in Human Resources Management in 1981 from Pepperdine University. After graduating from Georgia Tech in early 1973, Aubin moved with his wife Parivash (Pari) Mura to Iran, where they also began a family. Their sons Cameron and Cambiz were born in 1975 and 1976, respectively. After graduating from Georgia Tech, Aubin journeyed to Iran by buying a car and driving from Paris, France (where he spent a month) to Tehran, Iran. This was an exciting trip in his life - he often recounted memories like the hotel "Hil-ton" and throwing candy out the car window so that people didn't throw rocks or shoot at him in southeastern Europe. While in Iran, Aubin worked as a project engineer, primarily with Iran Electronics Industries (IEI). Aubin & Pari moved to the United States with their two sons in 1979, and have lived in North Augusta, SC since 1982. Aubin worked at Fort Gordon as an industrial engineer from 1979-1982, and then as a training instructor at the US Army Signal Center from 1982-1997. Aubin retired in 1997, whereupon he began his second career -- namely, pursuing many hobbies, including (but not limited to) carpentry, boating, amateur astronomy, computing, photography, kayaking, marksmanship, and travel (his journeys took him to California, Florida, New England, Vancouver, Spain, Ireland, Israel and Greece). Almost above and beyond all else, Aubin was a connoisseur of the outdoors: His local explorations in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina saw him log literally thousands of miles exploring these areas by foot, truck, bike and kayak, and documenting much of it via photography. Aubin was a member of the Baha'i Faith for over forty years. He will be remembered by anyone who knew him as the most understated, genuinely kind, and sincere human being that they have ever met. Survivors include Mr. Mura's wife, Parivash Mura; two sons, Cameron Mura, wife Linda Columbus, of Charlottesville, VA and Cambiz Mura of Berkeley, CA; one brother; Ryan Louis Mura Sr., wife Joan, of Atlanta, GA; and a sister, Mary Mura Gill of Augusta, GA. Aubin is also survived by his dear cousin and long-time co-explorer, Alex Mura, and by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4115 Columbia Rd., Suite: 5-333, Martinez, GA 30907 (www.woundedwarriorproject.org). Remember that one time you hit my head with a cap. I turned around smiling and you pretended like you didn't do it and that left me standing holding my head confused trying to figure what happened? Funny Mr. Mura!!! :)

Dearest Aubin!

23 years ago, I came to visit you with my son Robert ( Amir) for few days. You and your wife and both of your sons were so nice and kind towards us . You took all three boys out and they had such a good time .
You and your wonderful wife Parivash, did a lot for us and I cherish all the memories since then .
Since then, we talked a few times over the phone and we planned for a time to meet you and your family here in Sweden one day, at it would truly have been an honor to host you and your family.
You and your wife were always involved in helping others and it was hard to find a time. I really admire how you and your wife put the need of all others before your own.

On January 9th I received an email from Parivash that you are in the hospital and had a big surgery and I was thinking of you and praying for you and your family day and night. was thinking of you and your family. Yesterday, I got a special feeling and then I got the sad news, I am so sorry .

I know today Parivash , Cameron and Kambiz are planting the nicest rose in the Abha kingdom.
May God bless your soul .
Parvin

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. Forever Missed, Forever Loved. RIP Love, Patricia
