KNIGHT Lois Muriel Jones Knight, born March 1, 1929 in Boston, Georgia to Leslie Zetrouer Jones and William Henry Jones, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ while peacefully asleep November 22, 2014. She was surrounded by her loving husband, Bobby Vernon Knight, Sr., her only love, whom she met at Robert E. Lee High School, her daughter Cynthia Cindi Ann Knight Griffith and her son Bobby Vernon Knight, Jr., as well as her daughter in law Marcy Sineath Knight, whom assisted and supported her husband in the home. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Reeves Jones; five grandchildren, Brianna Hope Knight, Elijah Grey Knight, Brandi Fawn Knight Combs, Heather Brooke Herring and Ryan Wayne Knight. Bobby and Muriel were married at Avondale, December 19, 1953. She worked in the football Coaches office at the University of Florida under Coach Bob Woodruff until her daughter, Cindi was born, December 14, 1955. Muriel taught Physical Education at several schools, the last, Ribault Jr. High until her son, Bobby, Jr. was born, June 1, 1960. She returned to her career in education as a 6th grade teacher at Harborview Elementary. She also taught 6th grade at S.A. Hull and Windey Hill. She retired from teaching 6th grade at R.L. She loved teaching Social Studies and History. Among her favorite subjects were Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. She always encouraged her children and students to respect and enjoy nature. She had the most beautiful smile. Her favorite actors were her son-in-law, Andy Griffith and Charlton Heston. Her favorite colors were the Orange and Blue of the University of Florida. She had many friends, especially Mike Atter, who she said was like a son to her. One of her favorite hymns was The Old Rugged Cross . Ah, Mrs. Knight--my role model as a teacher. Always prepared, always interesting, always caring.
The only time I saw you not 100% on top of everything was the Saturday in 1966 or '67 when you took the patrol girls to the beach. Thank God for Mr. Campbell, who saved Bettina and me from an undertow! You apologized for needing a smoke on the way home, which shocked me at the time but since then encouraged me--even the divine Mrs. Knight was human!
Wonderful memories of a wonderful lady.

I remember meeting Mrs. Knight when she & Mr. Knight came to the Shaw's house when Dottie died. She was so very nice to all of the students that night even though she probably didn't know most of us but from what I have read it would seem that was the type of person she was.I pray that God gives each of you peace & strength during this time & the knowledge that one day all of you will be together again!
