AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Tuesday, December 16, 2014, Mr. Odis C. Holbrook, 78, loving husband to Hirlande Maria Holbrook. Mr. Holbrook lived in Augusta since 1973. He served 20 years in the United States Army with tours in Germany and Vietnam. He enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. He was a member of the weekly luncheon with The Lunch Bunch for fellowship and championship with good friends. Mr. Holbrook enjoyed flying remote control aircrafts but his pride and joy was going on rides with friends on his Harley. Family members in addition to his wife include his son: Johnny Holbrook (Laurie) of Hephzibah, GA; daughter: Connie Wilson (James) of Sumter, SC; granddaughters: Christina Holbrook of San Antonio, TX, Stephanie Chappell (Tommy) of Augusta, GA, Stacy Holbrook of Covington, GA; step grandchildren: April Josey (Jason), Joe Wilson, Alan Wilson, and Patrick Wilson, all of Sumter, SC; great grandchildren: Tylor, Maddox, Hayden, Timothy, and Avery; step great grandchildren: Kaitlin, Michael, and Emily Josey, all of Sumter, SC; brother: Noah Holbrook of Bristol, VA; sisters: Elizabeth Pennington (Claude) of Bristol, TN, Jewel Amburgy (Estol) of Bristol, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents: Mr. and Mrs. L.G. Holbrook; brothers: Leon Holbrook, Ronald Holbrook, Bill Holbrook; and sister: Marie Delph. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring doctors and nurses for the Hospice care he received at the Uptown VA. The family will receive friends Friday beginning at 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. A funeral service will be Friday, December 19, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Chaplain Scott Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909.
