Joseph Michael (Joe Mike) McKinney
1939-2015

He is predeceased by his parents, G. S. and Edith McKinney and his brother, Steele McKinney
Joe Mike was born Nov. 24, 1939, in Kilgore, TX. He graduated from Texas Tech and began a long career as an engineer in the oil and gas industry. His career stops included Exxon, Superior Oil and Union Texas Petroleum. He was a mentor and friend to many.
He was an extraordinarily kind man with a dry quick wit. He and Luanne were long-time Astros fans and were 30-year season ticket holders.

I have only just learned of Joe Mike's passing and I am deeply saddened. In the nineties he was our parent company's president and we appreciated our good fortune to have such an upstanding, strong and kind man as our 'boss'. I became very fond of Joe Mike and have always kept a special place for him in my heart. I extend my sympathy to his family and want them to know that he is lovingly remembered here in Trinidad & Tobago.

I grew up with Joe Mike in Shell Oil Camp. I lived with the McKinney family during our senior year because my dad was transferred to Houston. Joe Mike's parents insisted on giving me their bedroom, Joe Mike gave them his bedroom, and he slept on a sofa in the den. Every night he made the sofa into a bed and every morning back to a sofa. A more giving and unselfish classmate and family one will never find. May everyone who loved Joe Mike find a measure of comfort for having known this truly wonderful boy/man.
