David Scott Obituary

David Duncan Scott

1957 - 2015

David Scott of Mill Valley California departed sooner than expected on Tuesday evening, February 24 less than four weeks after diagnosis with metastasized melanoma. He died surrounded by family, at home, in peace.

David was co-owner of UKO clothing stores in San Francisco and Marin. He was the son of the late Hugh Duncan Scott and the late Rosemary Gregory Scott of Southwold, England. David was born in London on November 13, 1957 and spent his first seven years in Nairobi, Kenya. His godfather was Sir Phillip Mitchell, governor of Uganda and Kenya. David attended Marlborough College in England and lived in Amsterdam, Berlin and for three years in Japan, where he taught English. He moved to San Francisco in the early 1980's and to Mill Valley in 1992 where he lived on West Blithedale and later, on Hillside Avenue.

David was well traveled, well read and well loved. He was known for his wicked sense of humor, his homemade ginger beer, impeccable sense of design and his devotion to his family. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Elena Ohmori Scott and Maya Anjou Scott, his sister, Robina Scott of Southwold, England, his life-partner, Rudi Dundas of Mill Valley and his ex-wife, Yuko Ohmori of Mill Valley.

David was buried Friday, March 6th at Fernwood Cemetery in Mill Valley.
