Alexander Vinson Obituary

September 18, 1933 - March 2, 2015
Alexander Lloyd Vinson passed away March 02, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born to Harvey and Avis Vinson (Jordan) September 18, 1933 in Port Arthur, Texas. As a young man he travelled from Port Arthur to Harlingen with his parents,. He later attended the University of Texas at Austin. He joined the Army upon graduation where he was promoted to Captain. He was stationed in Germany and saw much of Europe in his time there. He enjoyed a long career with Texaco Oil where he developed life long friendships. He loved to explore the trails and rivers of central Texas, mesas of the Southwest, and glaciers of the Canadian Rockies. He was blessed with two sons by his first wife Ann; and another by his second wife Debra. A devoted father and a regular fixture at football games and camping trips, where he passed his love of nature on to his children. He was blessed to be Grandpa to four grandchildren. He is survived by sons Mark, wife Elizabeth, children Megan and Katlyn; Steven wife Rene, children Benjamin and Joshua; Devin wife Denise. beloved niece Cynthia Simmons, husband Arthur, son Jonathan; cousin Barney Vinson wife Debbie. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation or McNay Art Museum of San Antonio.
