Mr. Jimmy Lee Mauldin, age 64, of Lavonia, died Saturday, May 9, 2015 at The Oaks of Athens following an extended illness.
Born December 6, 1950, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of Guy Mauldin, Jr. and the late Dorothy (Lewis) Mauldin. He attended The University of Georgia where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Banking and Finance. He was Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of First Bank & Trust and Executive Vice President of Northeast GA Bank. He was a member of Lavonia First Baptist Church and attended Pendleton Presbyterian Church where he enjoyed singing tenor in the church choir, he loved southern gospel music and his favorite phrase was "GO DAWGS".
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother: Jerry Mauldin.
He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law: Holly Mauldin Pointer & Ainsley; grandson: Hunter Waine Pointer; sister: Sandra Whitlock; special friend of 16 years: Anna Simon; and the mother of his daughter: Dianne (Cooper) Mauldin.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Morton White, Dr. Larry Finger and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. A private burial will follow in Lavonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at other times the families will be at their respective homes. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to Hart Ministries, Bowersville Baptist Church, Lavonia First Baptist Church or Pendleton Presbyterian Church.
