Jullienne Schmidt Obituary

January 17, 1926 - December 6, 2015
Julie Schmidt has left us but we are all better people for having had her in our midst. She was born in Gonzales County to B. K. Perkins and Maude Wright on a farm with her only sibling a brother, G.B. Perkins; all predecease her. She moved to San Antonio after graduating from Nixon High School where she met her husband to be--Army Air Corps enlistee Caroll E. Schmidt. They celebrated 72 years of a loving marriage this year.
Her career in civil service included positions at Ft. Sam Houston and Audie Murphy Veteran's Hospital. Julie also worked with her husband, in his business as the Watkins Products distributor. She volunteered at the Methodist Hospital for decades as a Blue Bird and was active in the Methodist Church.
Travel and cruises were favored after retirement and dancing to various bands at Martinez Social Club and Braun Hall continued until this year.
Two untimely deaths-- her son Larry Schmidt and her son-in-law Bill Zehner, were hard burdens-- but she carried through with the pioneer spirit that is the heritage of her generation--serving as an inspiration to the family which was always foremost in her thoughts and prayers. She is survived by her beloved husband, her daughter Carolene Zehner, and her daughter-in-law Cathy Carvel Schmidt and companion Jimmie Cernosek, along with treasured and adoring grandchildren: Nikole Schmidt Jones, Michael Schmidt and wife Shawna Smith Schmidt, and Gretchen Zehner. Great grandchildren who cherish her memory are Garrett Jones, Lauren Jones, and Camden Schmidt.

Memorial service will be at Mission Park North, Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 3pm. Private burial will be at a later date. The family will be thankful for donations made to any charity in her memory. You are invited to sign the guestbook at Online guestbook at www.missionparks.com Arrangements with

Dear Family, Steve and I are so sorry to hear of Julie's departure from this life. Though we are sad, I know Joyce is glad of the arrival of her best friend. I know they are having a wonderful time catching up. Julie was the most kind and loving person and I always felt so good in her presents. I know that it will be hard to be without her for the family but we can always cherish the gift of her that she gave all of us. We will never forget her.
