Travis Dafft Obituary

Travis James Dafft
1991-2015
Travis James Dafft, age 24, gained his special angel wings on Christmas morning, December 25, 2015. He was born at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands on February 1, 1991.
All his disabilities, trials, challenges that life threw at him he met head on. He needed no words to bring people together, his infectious smile and twinkling eyes could fill a room.
In his own way he has been preparing for his trip to heaven by working on a bucket list. He traveled to Mexico, Belize, and Honduras, swam with dolphins, manatees, loved indoor skydiving, ghost hunting in Galveston, San Antonio, spy school, hot air ballooning, if he could do it his mom made sure he could.
He spent his last day on earth helping a group of men he befriended near therapy. Made pancakes and brought them sleeping bags. Watched Christmas movies snuggled with mom in bed. Then went to see It's A Wonderful Life.
He awoke in heaven Christmas morning greeted by his grandmother Rosa Lee Sheard.
He had a passion for life and living everyday as if it were his last.
He is survived by his mom, Teresa M Dafft (Sheard); his dad, Gary T. Dafft; his sister, Jennifer Wright and her husband, Charles (Bill) Bailey; nephews, Jackson, Christian, and baby #4 Bailey; niece, Julianne Baily, his grandfather, David Sheard & Elaine; and his honorary grandfather, Dick Betz; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; his special buddy, Duke Messer; his special friends in Woodlands Shooting Stars, deaf blind group, Shining Stars, CISD, I run 4 Michael, Celtic Thunder, Ryan & Neil, and TSBVI.
A celebration of his life will be held January 2, 2016 at 11:00 am at The Woodlands United Methodist Church. We ask that everyone wear bright colors. Red was his favorite. In lieu of flowers, we are asking you to donate to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter in his honor, or an animal shelter in your area.

Oh Captain my captain
Mommy is so lost without you and that precious smile. I know you are in a better place but I want you back to hold and talk with. You taught me so much. You were my angel here on earth and now you are my angel in heaven. Behave yourself and no pinching cheerleaders. Mommy loves you forever. Thank you for letting me be your mom and I hope I did everything I was suppose to do. Until I catch my ship..... Love you forever mom

I am so sorry for your loss of sweet Travis. I loved following your adventures with him on FB and admired your way of mothering him! I know you will always carry priceless memories of him. I am sorry I was keeping my four grands over the holidays and did not get to attend the celebration of his life. I have been and will continue praying for God to hold and comfort you.

To my buddy:
You are with me everyday. As you fly high way above. We will keep pushing on. You have shown me so much. With all your kindness and love for everyone near and far. I am a better person for having you in my life. You will be with me always my bother. Until we meet again. Fly high.

I know your hearts are broken, I know you feel lost. Travis had a wonderful life. He had limitations, but it didn't keep you from showing him as much of the world as ya'll could. His beautiful big smile let everyone know he was the Captain and he was in charge. He is now running, laughing and giving his grandmother Rose lots of hugs with his strong arms. Teresa and Gary I pray you find the strength you need and always share your memories of Travis. Eleanor, Robert, and Sarah Lindley

Ms Teressa--With such sadness I just saw Travis Obit, & there are no words to express how sorry I am for you & your family's loss. I don't know who was the most special--"YOU, OR TRAVIS".
From the first moment I met you I fell in love with Travis, & he always loved Ms Judy. It was such an honor to share every moment I had with Travis when you would bring him in where I worked. You said he always wanted to come & see Ms Judy. That beautiful smile he would always give me & all the kisses I'd give him. Travis was such a SPECIAL TREASURE IN MY LIFE, as he was to so many. I was so Honored & Blessed to have been a part of HIS Life--with just the short visits we did have. When you would go away for the summers, you still sent me notes. I was so sad that I couldn't attend his big birthday party due to the death of my son, but I knew you understood. Sadly, I was let go from that employment & never got to see ya'll, but I would call & you always said Travis would light up. Remember when you came by my house & I went out to your van & just loved all over him. I don't know who was the happiest, me or Travis. Also, remember when he was being evaluated on his visits in public & how the lady couldn't believe how well he did respond. I know he had to have received an "A" on that test. Travis touched so many hearts & was loved by so many. Travis held such a special place in my heart & I have missed seeing ya'll so much. He was truly "AN ANGEL", as were YOU. I know God called his ANGEL home, & sadly I know the loss you & your family are going through in loosing your BELOVED TRAVIS. I find comfort in knowing he is now home with GOD & all of our lost loved one's. "I CAN ONLY IMAGINE" WHAT THAT MOMENT WILL BE LIKE WHEN WE MEET THEM ALL AGAIN. Please feel my heart, thoughts & prayers are with you & your family at this time of your great loss
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful son with all of us. What a HONOR & BLESSING HE DID BRING IN MY LIFE. HE WAS ALWAYS "MY SPECIAL ANGEL"

I remember the day that Travis was born, and how bright his eyes and smile were right from the beginning. He was happy, spirited, and occasionally mischievious. Every moment of his life was full of love and adventure, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

This young man was blessed to have such dedicated parents. I work with Gary & learned about Gary's love for Travis many years ago. God knows who to give the special children to. God Bless Travis in heaven & his family left here on earth. May their meeting in heaven be glorious.

I am a Special Needs Bus Driver and I had the pleasure of meeting Travis. My life was forever changed.
His mom is the most upbeat and loving mom I have ever met. That first morning his mom explained everything I needed to know.
Thanks to a loving family Travis accomplished many things most of us will ever do.
Thank you for letting me transport this amazing young man. I will always have a special place in my heart for Travis!
