Mabel Gibbs Obituary
Mabel Eleanor Goodale Gibbs, 95, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Mabel was born on February 10, 1921 in San Antonio, Texas to Frank James Nixon and Ida Mae Nolan. She was a civil service secretary to the commandant of the US Army at Fort Sam Houston for over 20 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Barbara Mueller Griffith, sister Margaret Nixon Mingus, and brothers Frank Nixon, Jr and Daniel Nixon. She is survived by her son, John Davis Goodale, nieces, Carol Ann Mingus and Kathy Nixon Lancelot, grandchildren Cynthia Mueller, Susan Mueller Zimmerman, Scott Mueller and Keith Goodale; and sister-in-law, Iola Nixon.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834 or the American Legion.
