Paul Moses Obituary

Paul Jonathan Moses went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 17, 2016.

Join his family for a celebration of his life on Saturday, March 26, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at Peninsula Bible Fellowship which meets at Cook Inlet Academy on Kalifornsky Beach Road (one mile from Soldotna). A reception will follow and Pastor Ted McKenney with officiate.

Paul was the son of Gerald and Lillian Elizabeth Moses and was born in Cambridge, New York. He grew up in Eagle Bridge, New York where he attended a one-room school house, worked on the family vegetable farm and painted some in the Grandma Moses style with his grandfather, Forrest. After high school and some college, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a Flight Simulator Specialist. When stationed in Anchorage, he met the love of his life, Helena Seversen and they were married in 1966.

After a year in Tennessee, Paul and Helena made Alaska their permanent home, first in Anchorage and then for 41 years in Soldotna. Paul worked for Burroughs corporation in Anchorage as a bank machine and computer technician and then moved on to Soldotna to manage the newly opened State Mechanical Retail Store. He rounded out his career with more than 30 years at Superior Builders Supply/Spenard Builders Supply as a buyer and Assistant Manager.

Paul spent his life as an example of Christian love and service. He served on the Soldotna City Council, the Borough Assembly, Kenai Peninsula Home Builder's Association Board, Central Emergency Services Board, volunteer at the Soldotna Homestead Museum, elder of his church and all around go-to guy for any building needs.

Paul is survived by his wife, Helena; his three children, Grant Moses (Joan), Jennifer Eastham, and Zane Moses (Brianne); grandchildren, Lance, Matthew and Samantha Moses and Tristen and Kalista Eastham; great-grandchild, Lilith Reign Eastham; brothers Thomas, Will and David Moses and many other friends and relatives.

Paul was genuinely one of the "Good Guys." In his words: "It'll be all right."

We feel it was our honor and privilege to have know Paul for he short time that we had to be in his company at the PBF. He always had time for all who wanted to talk with him. Know that he is in Gods arms now.

I knew Paul through his Daughter Jennifer for a very long time. He was a well devoted father to her. He would help her out through rough and hard times and even brought her happiness in her life. He was Jen's rock for sure. I support Jen for sure during this time of grief. Hugs Jen. Take care and Jesus loves you and will carry you through this time as well as your mom. Jesus is our strength during our hard times in life. Your dad is not looking down at you from Heaven and gonna be there with you always. HUGS and Prayers to your whole family. God Bless You all.

I knew Paul for many years. we often speculated on when the Lord would return. He no longer has to speculate. He was a special person.

Helena and family,
I'm sure you will hear the kinds of things now that show the level of love and respect this wonderful man, Paul Moses, engendered in his community. He is gone from us far too soon!

I have known Paul since his days at State Mechanical, and through all the days since. A more trusted and loyal friend cannot be found. We shared an interest in our community and nation and I often sought his opinions and insights into that and other matters. We shared a love of the Lord as well, and although he did not wear it on his sleeve, his strong faith was very evident to most who knew him.

We will miss him. Not as keenly as his family will, I am sure, but miss him greatly none the less.

May God bless you all richly,

I idolized Paul as a kid growing up. Easy going, kind hearted, funny, smart, talented, even tempered. All words that would describe Paul.He was my protector "from the Big Kids" on old bus 16, with Ed Andrew as the bus driver. Ed was hard of hearing so it was pretty much "a Free For All" in the back seats. You would have to look far and wide to find someone who had a bad word to say about Paul. He will be greatly missed.
