I am just hearing about Pastor Havard and have great memories of him pastoring at Sugar Creek Baptist Church. He married my wife and I in 1984. I found that he did not have to write any sermons to look at during the service especially at my wedding. He said he had it "in his head" which is a great testimony of the many years he preached. I have shared with many people since 1984 several of his sermons. He did NOT water down anything on Sundays, but preached like a preacher should. From the Bible. Many church leaders these days do not do that. I look forward to seeing him in Heaven and catching up with him from the many years since 1986 when I moved. God bless the many people who knew him at Sugar Creek Baptist Church. I miss that church and the people there. Keith Martinez, Columbia, MO.

I had the honor of being a member of Richey Street Baptist Church while Bro. Havard was the pastor. One of my memories is that he would often start singing during his sermon. And you never knew when he would call you out for talking during church! He taught me about the bible and how to live the life of a Christian. And for that I will always be grateful.

Just learned of my cousin's passing. His mother, Lillie Bell, was my mother, Ruby Deaton Brock's sister. I had not seen him for many years buy always loved him. He could preach & sing like no other. My thoughts & prayers are with his family at this sad time, but I'm sure he is rejoicing in heaven

Knowing Bro. Harvard, as I always called him since Richey Street Baptist Church when younger, and his precious family has made a difference in my life as a young person and today as an adult. He was a true friend especially when my brother died in the service. Healing came with many prayers that were felt and his presence in reaching out to our family. He will always be remembered by his love for Christ and his service for others. Our family sends our love and sympathy to his loved ones. I speak for my remaining family that we are thankful God put him in our lives and now looking forward for the next re-union in Heaven.

My family was greatly gifted by knowing our Pastor J. Dalton Havard at Richey Street Baptist church. He brought me to the Lord or God by baptizing me. He along with his family were good friends and gifts for our church. Truly a man in my life I Loved and respected and will never forget. I will speak for my family by saying he will be missed. I know he is in a far better place as I write this. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I had the joy of serving with Dr. Havard as his youth pastor at Sugar Creek from 1984-1988. He was so much more than a great pastor. He was my friend and mentor. He was such a fun pastor to serve with. He touched thousands of people but he had the unique ability to make you feel like you were the most important. I really loved him.

Dalton was also the Pastor of The First Baptist Church in Texas City during the 70's. We were in Rotary together. He was a GREAT man of God.
