John Thompson Obituary
One of 9 children born to James and Mary Thompson, John was born and raised in San Francisco. He joined the Merchant Marines and honorably served during WW II and the Korean War and received numerous decorations. John was a committed husband and father. He married Mary Colletta in 1950 and they raised 2 children. He enjoyed family outings, playing cards and fishing. John was devoted to helping others, whether it was do-it-yourself projects within their homes or repairing their cars. His wife Mary of 66 yrs; daughter Debbie; son Rick; sister Marianne; brother Mike; and 12 grand and great-grandchildren survive John. A Rosary is at 7 p.m. on Sept 21 and a service at 11 a.m. on Sept 22, both at St Anthony's Church in Novato. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Humane Society or St. Jude.

My sincerest condolences for the loss of your precious husband John. I will remember him as a man who freely gave to others, and capable of almost anything he put his mind to. He will be sorely missed.
