Richard Martin Obituary
Rick was born in San Francisco on November 1, 1959. He graduated from Novato High School in 1978, attended City College of San Francisco, and at age 21, began his illustrious career as a San Francisco Police Officer. Rick was admired by many, and will be remembered as a decorated Officer, Sergeant and Inspector of 32 years who gave unselfishly of himself and always sought to see the good in everyone. He was a 'Super Man' with a heart of gold and he will be profoundly missed. Please join the family for a Celebration of Life service Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 11am at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to West Coast Post-trauma Retreat (WCPR) at www.frsn.org.

Rick and I worked together, and made a very good team. I learned so much from him. Not only in what a good cop is, but what makes a man a good man. He was very kind to all people, very respectful, and his work ethics were unquestionable. He was a great father and loved his family. He was my brother. How great it was every time he showed up or we got together. I miss him very much.

I knew Ricky as one of the kids in our Novato neighborhood, and also as his babysitter. He was a sweet, funny boy with a big heart and a kind soul. I had not seen him since he was a kid. Today, at his service, after listening to his family, friends and those he worked with share thoughts and memories of him, I realized he had not changed over all these years - still sweet, funny, big-hearted and kind. I am so grateful I was able to fill in all the missing years by being with so many who loved and respected him and celebrated his life. Fly with the angels Ricky!

It was a pleasure working with you at Co A. In the 1980's.
I remember giving your family a baby crib as you needed it for your first born child .
We got to work together again at the Airport for a short time.
All of a sudden you left. I retired and 3 years later I hear the bad news.
You will be sorley missed my friend.

I was very saddened hearing about Rick. Rick and I were in the Academy together and were friends for a long long time. Every time I saw Rick he was always smiling and his hair "Looked Marvelous"
This is a difficult time but I hope it helps to say Rick made a difference and cared. He was a good guy.
I will keep Rick and your family in my prayers .

Rick was one of the kindest police officers I have ever had a pleasure to work with. From our time together at Northern Station to the long hours at the Homicide Detail, Rick was a gentleman - quick with a smile, a kind word and a positive outlook. You left us far too soon. Rest easy my friend.

Rich was a very honorable man and a wonderful, wonderful Police Officer.
Rich was a true gentleman and treated everyone he met with respect and dignity.
I had the honor and pleasure to have worked with Rich while we served at Central Station.
i will fondly remember Rich for all the good he did for so many people.
I hope he finds the peace he so richly deserves in heaven as he sits at the hand of God and smiles down upon us.

I worked with Rick at Northern. He was a great cop who never took short cuts on anything. Use to drive me bananas. He was one of my best friends whose humility and good nature taught me quite a lot. I will miss him. Be with God Rick.
