Robert Hunter Obituary

Robert G. Hunter, Jr.

May 5, 1923 - May 18, 2017

Robert G. Hunter, Jr., 'Bob', peacefully passed away on May 18, 2017. Born in San Francisco, he lived 90 years in San Mateo, CA. Upon graduating from San Mateo High School, Bob served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II. Returning to the Bay Area, he worked alongside his father, Robert G. Hunter, Sr. as an insurance broker in San Francisco.

Bob enjoyed spending time with his family at their Lake Wildwood, CA vacation home. For many years, he and his wife Chris were active volunteers at Mills-Peninsula Hospital Auxiliary. He was a past Master of the Burlingame Masonic Lodge 400 and a member of the Burlingame Valley Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Christine Hunter; daughter Kathleen Synder (Steve) of Indiana; son Richard Hunter (Dorothy) of Atherton; grandchildren: Jennifer Buchanan (Christopher), Tyson Urruita (Katelyn), Zachary Urrutia (Tatum) of Maxwell, CA; Kyleanne Hunter (Shane DeMars) of Denver, CO & Leslie LaRue (Derrek) of Austin, TX; and 8 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Mills-Peninsula Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
