November 27, 1924 - October 8, 2017
Ruth Helen Mueller Perry, 92, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas.
Ruth was born on November 27, 1924 in Asheville, North Carolina, to Harry and Grace Mueller. The family soon moved to Huntington, West Virginia, where Harry accepted a job as the head of the music department at Marshall College. Ruth graduated from Marshall and was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. She married her great love, Groover Franklin Perry in 1947, and they remained married for 57 years until his death in 2004.
The Perrys moved to Houston in 1956, and while Groover established a podiatry practice in Oak Forest, Ruth raised their children and contributed to her community as a Girl Scout leader and as a Sunday school teacher at Oaks Presbyterian Church. Ruth and Groover also enjoyed many Friday evenings dancing with friends at Hix 'n Chix Square Dance Club and later with The Spirits. She loved all animals (especially hummingbirds), watching thunderstorms, baking bread and apple pie, sewing, and china painting. She was kind to everybody, and the older she became, the sweeter she was.
In addition to Groover, Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Harry Edward Mueller; mother, Agnes Grace Burtis Mueller; brother, Paul Henry Mueller; and sister-in-law, Betty Rixford Mueller.
Ruth is survived by her children, Susan Perry Alexander (Ken), Houston; John Perry (Judy), Fair Oaks Ranch; grandchildren, Jennifer Perry Hicks (Brandon), San Antonio; Matthew Alexander (Ally), Reid Alexander, and Christopher Alexander, all of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews in the Mueller and Perry families.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, in the Chapel at Freedom House, Blue Skies over Texas, 5100 John D. Ryan Blvd., San Antonio, Texas, 78245. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the San Antonio Humane Society. I nurnment will be at Fort Sam Houston at a later date.

Dear John, Susan and your families. I was absolutely heartbroken knowing that Ruth has passed. I knew both of your parents and loved being around them. Your mom was so loving and your dad had an incredible witt about him. They came into my life when I was 15 yrs. old. They both made a huge imprint on my heart, I loved corresponding with them at Christmas even though I lived in the Dallas area from 22 years on. They both literally left footprints on my heart. Teaching them to dance so they could go on a trip that had a club which they could join in with the others was a fantastic memory. I simply adored them. So many memories. I will truly miss them. John and Susan, you both were blessed to have such wonderful, kind and loving parents. I'll always love them, and it's a comfort knowing they are together again.

Dear Susan and John, Thank you so much for sending us the notice of Aunt Ruth's passing. I have fond memories of the times we were gathered at Michael and Henriella's Farm and the trip mother and I took to visit with your mother and Uncle Groover in San Antonio. She was a wonderful complement to their marriage. I still have the painted china plate she gave us on the mantle. God bless you both and your dear families. Most fondly, Don and Cousin Paula Whitten Smith
