Anton G. Hardy

Hardy, Anton G. SARATOGA SPRINGS Anton G. Hardy, 90, died on January 12, 2018, in the Saratoga Hospital. Born in Englewood, N.J., his family moved to Manchester, Vt. where he grew up. He went to Andover Preparatory High School and to St. John's College in Annapolis. He taught math at Putney, Vt. He graduated from Clark University with his Ph.D. in psychology. As a psychologist, Tony worked at Brandeis University for several years and then worked for the Veterans Administration. He spent his final thirty years working in association with Maria Lifrak at Comprehensive Neuropsychological Services (CNS). He continued working as a clinical psychologist up until he was 88 years old. Tony was a published author of four books and articles on revolutionizing psychology grounded in Cassirer's philosophy. He also had numerous editorials published on politics in the Albany Times Union. Tony had a fine eye for beauty. He was an art lover and a nature lover. He had a particular affinity for waterfalls and he led his family and friends on numerous hikes in pursuit of the next waterfall. He was a photographer and took many beautiful pictures of the shapes and forms found in nature and architecture. He is survived by his sister, Jenna Speer and brother, Peter Hardy; the mother of his children, Ann Marie Ripley; daughter, Christina Hardy; son, Walter Hardy; nephews, Chuck and Jim Speer and Peter, Jeremy and Tim Hardy; and nieces, Kevin Immermann and Edie Spencer. He was preceded in death by son, David Hardy; his grandson, Michael Politzer; and his friend and partner, Maria Lifrak. A summer memorial service is planned at CNS with a date to be announced. A private family funeral is planned for this summer.
