Gary P. Finch, age72, of Smiley and formerly of Nixon, entered eternal rest on Jan. 10, 2018 in San Antonio. He was born in Cuero, Texas on Nov. 21, 1945. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Barney Ray Finch and Alta Marie Chessher Finch; his step-mother, Catherine Howard Finch; and a granddaughter, Marian Jean Finch. Gary is survived by his wife, Paulette Wake Finch; daughter, Chelsea Silay and husband Imen; son, Jarrett Finch and wife Michelle; step-son, Marcus Stewart; grandchildren: Aydin and Mavi Silay; sister, JoAnn Markowsky and husband C.E. "Babe"; brother, Don Finch and wife Gladyne; his canine companion, Buddy; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as other loving family and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at 11:00 AM, at the First United Methodist Church in Nixon in conjunction with the Worship Service. Pastor Rhonda Troll will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary's Golf Buddies and the NHS Class of '64. A Celebration of Gary's Life will be held Friday, March 2, 2018, 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harris Chapel United Methodist Church, 306 South Liberty Ave., Nixon, TX 78140, or to the Nixon Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 427, Nixon, TX 78140.
