Suzanne Walston Obituary

Suzanne Porter Walston
1936-2018
Suzanne Porter Walston, age 82 of Moulton, TX, a loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, September 9, at Lavaca Medical Center in Hallettsville, TX.
She is survived by her three sons: Bruce Burleson Walston of Moulton, Andrew Ellington Walston of Austin, and Robert Glenn Walston of Houston, her sister-in-law Sally Walston Doehring of Houston, as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.
Suzanne was born in Normal, Illinois on January 10, 1936 to Glenn Garland Porter and Marguerite Still Porter. Her father was a well-respected physician in Lubbock, Texas, which she called home while growing up. Suzanne graduated from Lubbock High School before attending The University of Texas at Austin where she received a bachelor's degree, majoring in Art with a minor in English. It was in Austin that she met her husband of 55 years, Virgil Alfred Walston. Virgil's career as an international oil explorationist took them to various locations around the world including Libya, Singapore, Indonesia, Houston, Texas, Bakersfield, California and ultimately Moulton, Texas. The support, dedication, and strength she gave Virgil was instrumental in his success, all while raising their three sons and being very involved in their school and extracurricular activities.
Suzanne was always a gracious host whether hosting a party for dozens or just a friend dropping in for a short visit. She had an unmatched sense of humor, loved her dogs unconditionally, and was an amazing cook who loved preparing meals and desserts for family and friends.
Suzanne is predeceased by her husband and her parents, her sister and brother-in-law Martha and Chancey Trout, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles William Alcorn, Jr. and Dorothy Jean Alcorn, brother-in-law Sweeney Jamison Doehring, Jr. and nephew Sweeney Jamison Doehring, III.
Suzanne and her family are grateful for the care and compassion given to her by Dr. Vu and others at Citizens Medical Center in Victoria, Texas, Advanced Home Health Services, Lavaca Medical Center and special thanks for the personal care given by Molly Hoffman Jalufka.
A cremation has been conducted by the Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville, Texas. There will be a memorial service and celebration of Suzanne's life for friends and family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to the charity of one's choice
