Sherry Robinson Coons
1951-2018
Sherry Robinson Coons, 67, of Katy, our beloved wife, mother and "Nana" was born on March 10th, 1951 to Bradford B. and Marian Robinson. She went to be with our Lord on Tuesday November 13th, 2018 in the same fashion as she lived her life, full of grace, wisdom and strength. A native lifelong Houstonian, growing up in West University Place, she graduated from Bellaire High School, attended The University of Texas and graduated from The University of Houston with undergraduate and Masters Degrees in Education. She was a member of West University United Methodist Church in her childhood years and St. Peters United Methodist Church then First United Methodist Church, Katy as an adult.
Sherry married Robert C. Coons, of Houston, Texas on November 24, 1972. Together they enjoyed a life filled with laughter, good times and faith-filled living with family and friends. It is a union that began in love, thrived in love and concluded in love on this earthly place. It will be continued in Heaven, in the arms of Jesus Christ, in perfect love for all time.
Throughout her life, she touched those around her with love, kindness, compassion and selflessness. She found a calling to teach children with special needs. Her 27-year teaching career was filled with joy upon joy teaching and building relationships with children and their families. She took immense pride in creating a loving home for her family. Some of her favorite things included hosting large holiday gatherings for the family, relaxing at the cottage on Canyon Lake, building puzzles, reading, teaching Sunday school and serving in her local church. She was active in the community through the Katy Literary Club, Katy Area Retired Educators and other local service organizations.
She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Coons of Katy, daughter; Rebecca White and husband, Gary D. White, Jr. of Temple; grandchildren, Addison Leigh White and Olivia Ann White; and son; Bradford Charles Coons, wife, Whitney King Coons of Austin and grandson Callum Bradford Coons, sister, Diane Ponder and husband, Dick Ponder of Katy, and a loving family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.
A celebration of Sherry's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Katy First United Methodist Church, 5601 5th Street, Katy TX 77493.

She always used to play with me. When I was real little. Shed come outside and we would ride bikes together. She would also take me to the mall and I would ride one of the rides at Katy mills mall. She would always spoil me every time Id come over to her house to spend the night. She also used to give me donuts and I would always sleep in her room on an air mattress on her side of the bed. We had a lot of good memories together. Nana would always take me out to eat at Restraunts. She would also take me to a store to buy something. Shed also take me to the library. And wed check out books and I would get on the computers. She was an awesome grandma to me.

I met Sherry my 1st day at the University of Texas and we have remained friends ever since. Rob and Sherry were married 1 month before Mike and myself. We were thrilled when Becca and Gary moved to Temple, our home the past 5 years. We had the opportunity to meet with them more often. Her outgoing personality, love for the Lord, and her genuine concern for others was amazing. We will truly miss her. May God bless Rob and the rest of the family. She will be their angel in heaven.

Sherry was such a warm, caring person. We met 50 years ago at Kinsolving dorm at the University of Texas, and this photo was taken when we were 19 years old. I have lived in the Chicago area for the last 40 years. We kept in touch at Christmas and various "reunions" of the Kinsolving girls, one of which was at Sherry's lakehouse at Canyon Lake. I was constantly amazed at Sherry's kindness to everyone, her devotion to Robert and her children, Becca and Brad (Brad and my daughter Stephanie were even born on the exact same day!) I also know Sherry's great faith played such a vital role in her life. I last saw her in January, and saw how her faith sustained her during her illness, as well as the devotion of Rob and her entire family. I could not ask for a better person to call "friend". My sympathy to her entire family. Blessings to all.
