I first met Dan when he took over my UD research job at Moody Air Force Base when I went back to school after a summer and semester at the base. After that we both did a lot of the fun things in our lives together. This included flying, boating, cars, etc. The last time I saw Dan he and Linda and their friend's Ves and Pat Bruggeman stopped by while they were out riding their motorcycles several years ago. I don't think there wasn't anything Dan was afraid to try. This included working on his Aeronca Chief airplane, his boat, or his E-jag. He swapped the E-Jag for a friends station wagon for the weekend we drove to New York city for the 1962 Flyers NIT championship basketball game. We were flying the Chief to Indianapolis for the Indy time trials when the engine coughed. We were having a carb icing problem. We were able to avoid an emergency landing in some famer's field by applying carburetor heat. We both were at Fort Knox at some of the same time after UD. I was 3 months ahead of him and could have a car on base after basic training. He could not have his car in basic training so he parked his bug eyed Austin Healey Sprite at my barracks and gave me the keys. I had a hard time resisting driving the car a lot. I did not have a Sprite of my own but Dan and at least two of his friends had one of those Sprites and they would race up and down Munger Rd in Washington township. It was a fun car. The Sprite had a manual windshield washer operated by a foot pedal. We would park at a drive-in restaurant, reach over the windshield and turn the washer nozzle forward and annoy the car hops. The washer could spray a stream of water at least 10 feet. I'm sorry we did not do more together after we both were married. I'll not forget you. May you rest in peace Dan.

It has been years since our many hours of playing tennis together at KTC and watching our kids in the pool. We lost track of each other but I have often enjoyed the memories
Thanks Dan!
