"Loving wife, sister, aunt & friend"
It is with deep sorrow in our hearts we announce, Kim Jenkins Owens passed away on Dec. 3, 2020 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a brief illness.
Kim was born in Torrington, CT on May 25, 1955. She was predeceased by her parents George Jenkins and Thelma Spargo Jenkins of Terryville, a nephew, Eric Jenkins of Bristol and sister-in-law, Darla Holcomb Jenkins.
She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Christopher B. Owens Jr. of North Branford, CT, sisters, Lauren & Dennis Pierce of Sun City Center, FL, Candace & Ed Davies of Milford, CT, brothers, Wayne & Andrea Jenkins of Bristol, CT, Craig Jenkins of Port Saint Lucie, FL, nieces, great nieces, great-nephews, many cousins and many friends who she enjoyed immensely. She will be sorely missed.
Kim graduated from Terryville High School in 1973. She earned her B.A. Degree from Southern CT State University in Art Education in 1977 and later she earned her M.A. Degree in Art History, also from Southern CT. She was a dedicated Art teacher in Rocky Hill, CT for 32 years, mostly at the High School and she retired in 2011. She also worked summers at the Steak & Ale/Sword Restaurant in Milford. She enjoyed many activities including gardening, drawing, painting, going to nice restaurants, kayaking, skiing, hiking, visiting museums and of course, visiting art galleries.
The family asks that donations, in Kim's name go to North Branford Land Conservation Trust, Guilford Land Conservation Trust and Branford Land Trust.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT has been entrusted with Kim's arrangements.
