Larry Clark Obituary

Larry Charles Clark
1944-2020
Larry Charles Clark was born March 13, 1944 to Charlie Cecil and Betty Taylor Clark in Bakersfield, California and passed away December 30, 2020 in Houston, Texas after a long fight with persistent cancer. After attending school in Breckenridge, Winters and San Angelo, Texas, Larry enlisted in the United States Navy and very proudly served his country aboard the USS Independence off Vietnam. He returned to San Angelo and enrolled at Angelo State University where he was graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in history and a minor in math. Larry was a proud member of the ASU Class of 1971, a life-long fan of Rams football and a generous financial supporter of ASU.
After college Larry moved to Houston to work for Fish Engineering, Shell Oil and Puffer-Sweiven, where he retired as an Executive Vice-President and Director. Soon he became a founder of a new company, CVI Solutions. Larry was a very well-known and respected expert in the field of control valve technology and applications. In 2008 he retired again but remained a consultant and management advisor to CVI until his death. A lifelong athlete, he enjoyed tennis, cycling, boating, hunting, fishing and traveling. In his younger days, he coached youth sports. He loved to fly his Mooney airplane, tail # 40MJ) and logged hundreds of hours transporting cancer patients to treatment with Angel Flight.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother Don Scarberry. He is survived by his partner for the past 14 years Brenda Wyatt, sister Sondra Clark-Chafey, brother Nolan Scarberry, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. Larry was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was a caring and generous person and a loyal and devoted friend.
A celebration of life will be held during the spring at a time and location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's honor can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or Angelo State University.

Larry was a kind, intelligent cycling friend who will be missed. After reading his obituary I realized how accomplished he was. But I never heard him boast of these things so I must add that he was a very humble man.
