Born on September 14, 1928, in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Quintin and Veronica (Jackson) Barrie. Keith proudly served in the U.S. Navy and returned home to the Schenectady area following his service. He enjoyed a long career as a steamfitter, most of which was spent with Schenectady Chemical and as a member of the Steamfitters Union. Keith was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady and he enjoyed spending time at his lake house on Schroon Lake. Above all else, Keith enjoyed time spent with his family and was so appreciative of the round the clock care he received from his children and grandchildren in his final months. In addition to his parents, Keith was predeceased by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Patsy (Eakes) Barrie. Survivors include his son Stephen Barrie Sr. and his wife Gina of Whitesboro, N.Y.; his daughter Michele Shevlin and her husband Chris of Southbridge, Mass.; grandsons, Stephen Jr. and his fiancee Sarah Oakley and Tyler Barrie of Whitesboro, N.Y.; and special friends, Paul and Carol Gundrum of Burnt Hills and Lance Lavoie of Colonie. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the aides from Home Instead, whose compassionate care helped Keith remain in the comfort of his own home during his final months. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 1 p.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union St., Schenectady. Interment will follow in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Dear Missy and family,
We are sorry for the loss of your father. Although he lived a long life, I lost my 92 yr old mother (Laura's grandmother) 2 1/2 years ago - and we still miss her everyday. You will always have fond memories of your Dad to comfort you.
Sincerely,
Mr. & Mrs. Hazleton
