Barbara K. Bragg was called home by our Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at the age of 73. She was a native of Louisiana, born in Franklin, and a loving wife and friend who was devoted to her husband, Roger, and her kids, of the 4-legged variety, Nola, Jazz and GiGi.
Barbara retired in 2009 from Randolph Air Force Base. Her Federal Government career spanned over 40 years beginning in 1965 in the 8th district of the U.S. Coast Guard in New Orleans with a move later to Coast Guard HQ in Washington, DC. Barbara sped up the ladder working for the United States Senate, National War College, Office of Management and Budget at the White House, General Services Administration; and National Endowment of the Arts. Her career continued with a move to Dallas/Fort Worth working at the Nuclear Regulatory and the Defense Logistics Agency before a return to the DC area for a position at Defense Logistics Agency HQ. Happily married to Roger in 1990, brought a move to Memphis, TN and a transfer to a position with Defense Logistics Agency in Memphis. Many years later, they both moved to Texas, residing in Universal City, and Barbara began working at Randolph AFB until her retirement in 2009. She received many accolades through her career including the Air Force Meritorious Civil Service Award. After retirement, Barbara and Roger moved to Arlington, TX.
Barbara was a quintessential southern bell, who believed in Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler (let the good times roll!!). One of her many passions was cooking. She documented her favorite recipes in Barbara Bragg's Recipe Favorites and Nathalie's-"What's in the Vault" featuring both New Orleans and Texas inspired recipes. When in DC, many friends enjoyed her New Year's Day 8-course dinners with red beans and rice, jambalaya, gumbo, wild rice & oyster casserole, black eyed peas for luck, and of course bread pudding with whiskey sauce. When in Memphis and then Arlington, TX she expanded her horizons by learning the art of smoking turkeys & briskets and adding the Tex-Mex cuisine to her repertoire. She knew how to appeal to everyone's innate and universal love of food.
In addition to Barbara's notable career and culinary skills, she enjoyed her talent as a seamstress and interior decorator. She was an instrumental member of the Poodle Club of San Antonio (Rescues) and over time gave forever homes to nine. Her generosity and compassion will be greatly missed by the many lives she has touched. She was truly the Queen of Quality and her heart was as big as Texas.
Barbara was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Kennedy. She is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Roger Bragg.
Due to COVID, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In keeping with her wishes, memorial gifts may be made to: Poodle Club of San Antonio, C/O Valeska Humphreys-Treasurer, 14538 Indian Woods, San Antonio, TX 78249

Barbara was one of the most hospitable ladies I’ve known. She greeted my family with grandeur when we arrived at Randolph AFB. She always had her beautiful smile on and looking for ways to serve and make people happy. My life was blessed by Barbara Bragg and I will miss her dearly. ❤ Sending love and hugs to you Roger. Look forward to seeing you in a few weeks.
