James VALENTINE Obituary

VALENTINE, James E.

Age 83, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021. He was born on February 17, 1937, in Springfield, Ohio, to the late William A. and Mary Mabel (McCoy) Valentine.

He attended both Wittenberg University and The Ohio State University. Jim was a proud owner of several businesses alongside his partner, Charles Crabill of over 40 years in Springfield, Ohio, and throughout the U.S. He loved to boat, whether it was at Indian Lake, Ohio, or in Naples, Florida, it was a passion he shared with family. Jim served in the United States Navy in the early sixties. He was a longtime fan of over 40 years of the OSU Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals. He gladly donated to those in need and to various organizations in the Springfield area and beyond.

Jim first and foremost put his family above everything. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Julia; children, Luanne Brown (Eric), Bryan James Valentine (Lynne), Chelsea

Valentine Heilbronner (Taylor); grandchildren, Jamie and Matt Brown (Sandi), Paige Valentine and Cody Valentine, Hudson and Milo Heilbronner; great-grandchildren, Logan, Jayden, Keegan, Cameron and Braylin.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, William Roger Valentine; first wife, Marilyn Jeanette Fawley; and second wife, Marilene "Marty" Barry.

A private gathering will be held. Memorial contributions can be made to The Ohio State University, c/o Valentine IPF Research Fund, Fund #316282, PO Box 710811, Columbus, Ohio 43271. Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN. To share memories or condolences, please visit

I worked with Chelsea and I always remember feeling so happy for the relationship she had with her folks. I'm older than Chelsea by a fair bit, but we both won the lottery in the parenting department and that always made me she was a kindred spirit. She is honest, kind, humble....all traits passed down from one generation to the next. Realizing not everyone is so fortunate to have such a loving bond with their parents, I always celebrated her family vacations, family dinners together, the love they all shared for Tiffany and Abella; and her annual "Valentine's" Day roses! I loved the way they loved her; and she them. It was...it is beautiful. Chelsea is a bright light in the world and that is a true testament to her Dad and her Mom. Mr. Valentine, your legacy is living on in your grand boys. Your love lives on. Congratulations on a life well lived sir! Love and light to each of you!- Dannielle StanleyReed

Jim was quite a special man! We enjoyed becoming friends while attending Risen Christ. Please know you are in our hearts and prayers as you say your earthly good-byes. We give thanks knowing he is breathing without help and in the arms of our most precious Lord. XO~ Deb and Tom O'Neal
