Gina Ambrosio Obituary

Gina Ambrosio
Aug 16,1960-Feb 13, 2021 Gina Ambrosio, 60, of Trumbull, CT, passed away peacefully on February 13 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. She was born August 16, 1960 in Huntington, NY, and was the daughter of Josephine Ambrosio of Saratoga Springs, NY and the late Salvatore Ambrosio.
Gina was a graduate of SUNY New Paltz, and as a lifelong learner, held a number of certifications in areas as diverse as massage therapy, real estate management, Reiki therapy, and was also a certified paralegal. For many years, Gina was a building manager for Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. Upon relocating to CT, she worked for the New Boston Management Company, and for the last several years, she pursued her passion for cooking with Cucina Casalinga Cooking School in Wilton, CT. There, she managed the office and assisted teaching gourmet Italian food classes.
Gina was a force of nature, and everyone who met her was instantly drawn to her and loved her. As a consummate party planner, Gina hosted many dinner parties featuring her outstanding cooking. She loved to entertain, plan excursions, and travel. Gina and her husband visited many countries, including Italy, Israel, Peru, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, and France. She was an avid animal lover and found constant pleasure in her three dogs and her rescue cat. She loved the beach, the mountains, and all of nature. She loved music and dancing, and was a dedicated practitioner of yoga. She saw hundreds of Broadway, off-Broadway, and regional theatre performances. She loved all of the arts.
Gina is survived by her beloved husband, Alan Schachter of Trumbull, her mother, Josephine Ambrosio of Saratoga, NY, her mother-in-law Dorothy Schachter of Schenectady, NY, her step-children Jeremy Schachter (Rebecca) of Ardsley, NY, Michael Schachter of West Haven, and Elliott Schachter of NYC, and her beautiful grandchildren Ava, Amelia, and Jack Schachter; her sisters Susan Roods (Craig) of Greenwich, NY, Annette Ambrosio (Rossan) of Mesa, AZ, Nora Ambrosio (David) of Slippery Rock, PA, and brother Charles Ambrosio (Eileen), of East Northport, NY; nephews Sam (Kristi), Lucas (Jennifer), CJ, Liam, James, Dominic, and her niece Lena; great-nephews Rowan, Max, and Cal, and her many cousins and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
Due to Covid-19, a memorial service will be planned at a later date. To honor Gina's love of the arts and animals, tax-deductible donations can be made to either the Actors' Equity Curtains Up Fund http://give.actorsfund.org/CurtainUp, or TLC Sweet Souls Rescue of Newtown, CT http://tlcsweetsouls.rescueme.org, 53 Hanover Road, Newtown, CT 06470.
