Larry Marvin Oborne
1944-2021
On Sunday, March 7, 2021 Larry Marvin Osborne, loving husband and father of four children passed away at the age of 76. To only one he was a true love, to four he was a father, to a handful he was "Poppa", and to all he met, he was a warm smile and a friendly conversation.
Larry was born in Kilgore, Texas on September 9th, 1944 along with his twin brother Jerry to Olga Neldene Jackson and Orlando Neal Osborne. Later his mother went on to have three more children (Lois Fletcher, Robert Jackson, and Randall Jackson). While Larry cherished each relationship with all his siblings, he shared a unique bond with Jerry only twins can understand.
Larry attended Bellaire High School and later went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in Business from The University of North Texas. He married his high school sweetheart, Deanna and together, they raised four children: Jennifer, Gwendolynn, Jeffery and Shannon, and welcomed many grand and great grandchildren. Family was Larry's drive for life, and he went above and beyond to show his unconditional love. He was a proud father and tender grandfather who was always eager to spend time with his family.
While family meant the world to Larry, his love for cheering on the Mean Green came in at a close second. At North Texas home football games, it wasn't a rare site to see Larry in the stands, headphones plugged into his mini silver radio, watching the game live while listening to the broadcasted commentary. He didn't want to miss a second of his favorite team.
Larry and his twin brother, Jerry took over Cherokee Steel Fabrication and transformed it into a successful business. He enjoyed many decades in the steel industry growing the family business. He was a passionate worker who led with honor and integrity, and who was willing to work around the clock to get the job done. He was prideful and steadfast, a champion.
Whether he was in his favorite chair in the living room cheering on his favorite Mean Green football team, sitting at the head of the kitchen table spending meaningful time with family, or completing bids in his office, he lived a wonderful and fulfilling life full of unwavering love and passion for his family.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Deanna Osborne; his siblings Jerry Osborne, Lois Fletcher, Robert Jackson, Randall Jackson; his children Jennifer Perepeluk, Gwendolynn Elkins (Ron Jansen), Jeffrey Osborne (Robynn), Shannon Osborne; and 15 grandchildren and great grandchildren. His legacy will continue in the hearts of his family, many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.
