Stephanie Caffrey Oda
Stephanie Caffrey Oda was born October 5, 1943 to Thomas and Rosaleen Caffrey in Ardee, County Louth, Ireland. She came to the United States in 1967 and lived in New York City before settling in Connecticut. Stephanie pursued a career in publishing and was co-owner of Open Book Publishing in Darien, CT. Stephanie earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut and a Master's degree from Manhattanville College in New York City. She was an adjunct professor at Norwalk Community College, the University of Bridgeport, and the University of Connecticut.
Stephanie is survived by her son, Jason Oda, her husband, Neil O'Brien, her sister, Olive Pentony in England, brothers, Valentine Caffrey, Robert Caffrey, and Edmond Caffrey, all in Ireland and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister, Margaret Caffrey McMahon and her brother, Maurice Caffrey.
There will be no local services. Stephanie always said, "You can leave Ireland but Ireland will never leave you." She is being returned home to her beloved Ireland, where services and burial will take place on Saturday, May 22, 2021. To express condolences online, visit www.pisteyfuneralhome.com.
