BILL MCLAREN Obituary

Bill Everett McLaren entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 11, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 78.

He was born in Galveston, Texas to Martha Elizabeth McLaren (Dearman) and James Patrick McLaren. He was the second born of three sisters and two brothers. Bill grew up in Galveston where he graduated from Ball High School. He joined the US Air Force and served as a B-47 Aircraft Mechanic stationed at Lincoln Air Force Base in Lincoln, Nebraska. After leaving the Air Force Bill had a remarkable fifty-year career in the space industry with Lockheed Electronics, Harvard University, and Southwest Research Institute. Well known projects he worked on include Gemini, Apollo Lunar Lander, Space Shuttle, Juno, Cassini, Deep Impact, and Kepler.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Vel David, brothers James Donald Ringer and Louis James Ringer Jr., and wife Lynn McLaren. He is survived by sisters Sue Tabor and Teri Bradley and his sons Bill Jr., Donald, Jack, and Blair McLaren, 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Friday, July 16 at 2:00 at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian.
