I had the honor of being in Mr. (Dennis) Wick's class in 1988. It is his mentoring, humor, advice that I hold true to this day. I had the fortune to have the occasional lunch with him after getting out of high school of which produced yet more sage advice. He is the reason I started to care about education and get back into discovery of what is around you. His lighthearted approach to life is what always impressed me as opposed to relegating to adulting and the stressors that come from every day life. Step back, take a deep breath, and find the humor. Thank you, sir, and I hope you find that shrubbery.

I´m so sad to hear this news. I was a student assistant for Mr Wick in 1996 and besides giving me filing and other duties, he became a confidant, mentor, and adult that I could trust. We met at Bills donuts when I was in town, exchanged books, and shared similar non traditional ideas. My deepest condolences to his family. He touched so many lives. RIP Cratic!

Mr. Wick was the teacher who gave me the drafting skills that I used my entire career in Design. We worked together at Jackson Communications in the summers at the dawn of Cable TV. His humor and talent for story telling kept the office a fun place to be. Rest in peace, Dennis.

I first met Dennis when enrolling for freshman year at CHS with my 8th grade class. I had never known a teacher or for that matter an adult as off the wall as he was. he sort of scared me with his kidding around but I saw the kids helping that knew him loved him. I then had him for DCT as a Senior (class of 1979) I still say things and an remember things from his class, too many to recount here. in his class room he kept on old disgusting, tattered, gross weasel pelt. it served as the hall pass...for when you had to go " a fur piece" The girls in class hated it. Dennis was in deed one of a kind. as he would say- "scale of 1 to 10- 10 being changed your life" - he was a 10, he changed my life. I am very sad that he is gone. My condolences to his family for this very sad loss.

Deepest condolences on the passing of Dennis. Your obit says it perfectly. He did bring joy to everyone he met. I taught with Dennis for over 20 years. Each day he would make me smile and at times laugh until I had tears. He was a true seeker of useless facts. I enjoyed trying to stump him with his knowledge of Ohio county seats. I never could. He did a fascinating presentation on VanGogh. I enjoyed having him share it with my students. Perhaps he will now get a chance to meet him. Bye bye Miss American Pie.

Whether Dennis was aware of this or not, he is always an inspiration on how to live a meaningful life. In this way, he will not be truly gone.

Mr. Wick was a teacher at Brookville for many years. He was LOVED by ALL! I remember one year in our yearbook, the caption that he wrote under the golf teams' picture was this: "The boys' parents are very fond of them." LOL He was just THE BEST! I'm so saddened to hear of his passing.

Dennis was one of the good guys. Sadly he has met his maker -- whether his maker was prepared for meeting him is another matter.
