Peacefully at the
Friarage Hospital, Northallerton
on 3rd October,
David aged 78 years.
Dearly loved husband of Alison.
He will be sadly missed by all
his family and friends.
Funeral service to take place at
Stonefall Crematorium, Harrogate
on Thursday 21st October at 2:20pm.

I am profoundly sad to find this page and learn of my postgrad supervisor's passing three years ago. I was his first PhD student in 1969 and graduated in 1972. He was a supervisor and a friend who guided me through my studies. I looked forward to the coffee breaks when I could pick his brain for research tips and Friday afternoons when the department's staff and postgrad students met for indoor soccer. He was a brilliant player.
To him, I owe my academic career. May he rest in Peace.

It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of David Rhodes. Although I had known him by reputation previously,I met him personally when I was working for the European Space Agency in the late 1970's. He had recently founded the Filtronics company and produced several state-of-the-art software packages for the design of microwave filters. It was through these contacts that I became aware of his towering intellect and his pioneering contributions to the field.
I co-authored several technical papers with him, and can truthfully say that he shaped and profoundly influenced my future career.
It can only be said that one of the leading lights in this field has now been extinguished, and that he will be sadly missed by all in the community.
