SHAW Robert (Glasgow)
It is with great sadness that the family of Mr Robert Shaw announces his passing after a short illness, on October 6, 2021, at the age of 78. Robert (Bob), passed away peacefully in Glasgow, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn, his son David and daughter Nico, his sister Jean and three grandchildren, Euan, David and Mia. Robert was the Head of Product Design at Glasgow School of Art before he retired after nearly four decades spent at the Mac. He focussed very keenly on family and experiencing the world. It was well known how much he enjoyed sailing up the west coast, mastering the art of the parallel turn on the Scottish ski slopes and in the Swiss Alps, not to mention passing on his knowledge of cunning manoeuvres on a squash court to both offspring and grandchildren. His family and friends will have a private commemoration service as he would have wished.

I have to return to my student days, 1966-1971, when Bob taught furniture design in the Interior Design Dept. Bob, smart checked suit and floppy forelock, often teased me because he recognised a student who would rather paint and draw than design anything!
I was at GSA to witness the blossoming of Bob and Carolyn’s
relationship and it pleases me that they had a long marriage. My sincere condolences to Carolyn and her family.
