Irene DUFFY Obituary
70, of Springfield, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021, in Springfield Regional Medical Center. Irene was born October 17, 1951, in Maryland, to Paul and Hazel (Tossey) Johnson. She was a member of First
Baptist Church, and later a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Duffy; two children, Jason and Rachel Duffy; one brother, Steve (Candy) Johnson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Bruce Kramer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held in Clifton-Union

I went to school with Irene at Clark Technical Institute, now Clark State College. She was having a time with shorthand and I offered to tutor her. She said her blood pressure wouldn't tolerate her taking shorthand so she dropped it from her classes. Her husband, Michael and I worked together at International Harvester Company, now International Truck and Engine Corporation. Both Irene and Mike were kind, caring, and sincere friends whom I remember well even though it's been more years than I can count since I've seen them. Mike, I'm so sorry about Irene. I will always remember her smile and her love for you when we were all so young. She knew what she wanted and it was you. The perfect loving couple - so proud of both of them. Miss them and can't believe all these years are gone. So sorry for Irene's passing. She was one of life's beautiful people.
