Sharon Lee Stenson

Stenson, Sharon Lee DELMAR Sharon L. (Prust) Stenson, 78 of Delmar, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, after a brief illness. Born on Christmas Day, 1942, in Terre Haute, Ind., Sharon was the daughter of the late Herman W. Prust and Gertrude L. (Davis) Prust. After her family relocated to the Capital Region she graduated from Guilderland High School, going on to achieve a Bachelor of Music in piano performance and a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing, both from SUNY Albany. For over 30 years, Sharon gave piano instruction at Hilton Pianos. She also taught English as an adjunct professor at Schenectady County Community College, Marist College and SUNY Cobleskill. Sharon performed in jazz bands, acted and accompanied for local theater, and wrote beautiful poetry. She was a gardener, a puzzler and a cat lover. Sharon was a member of local writing groups including the Hudson Valley Writer's Guild, Howedunnits and with Pen in Hand. Her poetry was featured in Shenandoah Literary Magazine and local press publications, culminating in a book of poems entitled "Up On Mineral Springs Road." All who knew Sharon recognized her as a vital, creative, inspirational and loving human being. She will truly be missed. Survivors include two sons, Michael (Heather Salamone) Schwanke of Nashville, Tenn., and Eric (Shannon DeCelle) Schwanke of Averill Park; two grandchildren, Victor Schwanke of Tulsa, Okla. and Cheri Schwanke of Manteca, Calif.; a great-grandson, Crew; and two brothers, Daniel Prust of Marshall, Minn. and Eric Prust of Seattle, Wash. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Sharon's life on Sunday, January 16, at 2 p.m. at Moscatiello's Italian Restaurant, 99 North Greenbush Road, Troy.
