Maria Teresa Barroso Antunes, age 80, of Shelton and formerly of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Joseph Antunes, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 6, 2022 in St. Vincent's Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Boticas, Portugal on April 4, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Antonio Domingues and Maria Barroso. She came to the United States in 1960 and settled in Bridgeport. Maria was a retired employee for the City of Bridgeport Board of Education Department with over 20 years of dedicated service. She will always be remembered as a dedicated friend who would always lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Maria was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed. Survivors include two loving children, Lucy Antunes of Shelton and Joseph Antunes Jr., and his wife Maria Fatima of Monroe, two cherished grandchildren, Hailey Lauren and Lucas Joseph, brother-in-law, Anibal Antunes and his wife Julie of Arizona, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Domingues and her father and mother-in-law, Domingos and Alzira Antunes. The family would like to thank Anna Duarte for the wonderful care and love shown to Maria during her time of need. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Augustine Cathedral, Bridgeport with Reverend Peter Cipriani celebrating. Entombment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family at a walk-through visitation on Friday morning from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
