Paul Lee Obituary

Paul Richard Lee
Paul Richard Lee, age 93, died peacefully at his home in Stamford on January 11, 2022. Summers were spent at Roton Point Amusement Park where his parents Esther and Richard Lee operated a carnival stand. Paul attended King School in Stamford and earned a degree in chemistry from Waynesburg College.
Paul served with the US Army, Third Infantry Division, in the Korean War where he earned two bronze stars. He remained connected with the military through the VFW Springdale Post 9617 in Stamford. Paul loved marching with his fellow post members in Stamford's annual Veteran's Day Parade and was honored to have been named Grand Marshal of the parade in 2018.
Paul was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Stamford for over 60 years. He was a church deacon in the 1960's and served continuously as an usher until recently. Paul looked forward to Christmas Eve services where he participated in the Children's Service pageant. He was always helping people in his neighborhood, through Americorps and the church. When he manned a Salvation Army Christmas kettle he would often sing Christmas carols to encourage donations.
As an analytical chemist Paul worked for several companies including AMF, American Cyanamid, Olin Corporation and at PepsiCo for more than twenty years before retiring.
Paul was predeceased by his first wife Elsie Jung Lee and his second wife Julia Chan Lee. He is survived by his children Claudia Lee of Montpelier, VT, Dani Lee of Concord, MA, Brian Lee and his wife Lauren and granddaughters Casey and Morgan Lee of Fairfield, CT and three nieces Ester and Nancy Lee of New York City and Linda Yip of Virginia Beach.
There will be a private family ceremony at Long Ridge Union Cemetery and a memorial service will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, Paul wished that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden fund, 1101 Bedford Street, Stamford, CT 06905.

Paul and I were class mates at King School where both got into mischief together. We have kept in touch with each other for 75 years. I will miss the exchange of letters and Paul's puns and friendship.

As next door neighbors to Paul, we would like to express our condolences to his family. He loved the outdoors and he used to speak to our grandsons when they were mowing our lawn and he was appreciative of being given the grass clippings for his vegetable garden. He will be missed.

We were sorry to hear this news. We were friends of Paul through the church. He was very active. Paul was very skilled and was part of our Rebuilding Together team at the church. We shared a common interest in gardening. Paul will be missed, he was a character.

I attended church with Paul and I was so inspired by him. He always sang and greeted you with so much energy. He achieved so much in his life. What a testament to doing God's will. I will miss seeing him every Sunday.

Paul was my next door neighbor for many years. He was a wonderful neighbor and worked harder than anyone I´ve ever known. Leaves or snow didn´t have a chance of sticking around his yard or driveway.... or even his gutters. I have videos of him on his roof with his backpack leaf blower cleaning out his gutters. He will be missed by all of his neighbors. God bless his soul, and bring peace and comfort to his family.

Mrs Lee and I send our deepest sympathies and prayers to the friends and family of Mr. Lee on behalf of the Waynesburg University Community.

The Simmons extends their condolences to the Lee family. We met Mr. Lee through Troop 1 BSA; however, he gravitated towards my father because he liked hanging at my father's kitchen store with all of the woodworking machines. More importantly, he supported my father and his bout with terminal cancer. May these good memories provide you comfort in this time of sorrow.
