My deepest condolences to the family. Ms. Gloria Oliver was a beacon of light and very present of help in times of adversity. She was fair and never wavered. Thank you to the Family for sharing her with us. Wilberforce University 1991-1995. Psalms 46. Comfort and Blessings to you all. Shavonn

I met and was a recipient of Gloria Oliver's love and commitment to our community, as a student at good ole WU (Wilberforce University). What I remember most about Ms. Oliver, in the role of Activities Coordinator, was that she wanted the best for us and that her budget didn't necessarily speak to her desire. That meager budget, however, didn't stop her from getting us up that road to see the Sarafina stage play LIVE, or traveling to Dayton, OH to participate in Jessie Jackson's presidential rally. I don't think she ever tired of hearing us bellowing out "I AM somebody", on that trip back to the dorms. She organized a trip for us to to hear and MEET the incomparable Ms. Cicely Tyson, during my time with her. I salute you, Ms. Oliver. You are a SHINING example of LOVE in action. Your dutiful attempts to put us in the presence of that which would 'edify' us and nourish our blackness was proof of that love. May God and the ancestors welcome you with opened arms and jubilant celebration, for it is well deserved.

I loved this woman. She was a mom away from home. I always looked to her as a role model helping us young adults grow up. She loved us and we loved her. May she rest in eternal peace. No more pain. Love you always Ms. Oliver. You are part of the reason why I am.
