Margaret W. Sherwood
Margaret Windsor Sherwood, age 97, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022. She was born in Bridgeport Connecticut and spent all her married life in Fairfield, Connecticut. She is predeceased by her parents, Margaret Nethercut Windsor and John Fairest Windsor, her husband John Holman Sherwood and her sister Mary Windsor St. Pierre of Charlestown, Rhode Island.
Peggy will forever be remembered for her sense of humor, positive attitude, and infectious smile. She graduated from The Masters School, Dobbs Ferry New York and attended the Roosevelt Hospital School of Nursing, New York City. She was a member of the Fairfield Beach Club, where she was an avid tennis player, Pequot Yacht Club, the House and Garden Club of Greater Bridgeport, Ladies Charitable Society, and the Junior League of Bridgeport. She was a member of the editorial staff at the Bridgeport Post and a Meals on Wheels volunteer.
She is survived by her three children, Jane Sherwood Cullen of Charlestown, Rhode Island, and former husband and friend William C. Cullen of Ponte Vedra, Florida; Holly Sherwood DeFeo and her husband Joseph of Bethel, Connecticut andGeorge Sherwood and his wife Ruth of Ipswich, Massachusetts.
In addition, she is survived by three grandchildren William Tyler Cullen and his wife Angela of Bolton, CT; Paige Kiss and her husband Jonathan of Edina, MN; Robert Vozza and his partner, Sarah Cage of Sandy Hook, CT; Alexandra Vozza and her partner, Brian Afonso of Sandy Hook, CT; Katherine Sherwood of Ipswich, MA; and Margaret Sherwood Graham and her husband Michael of Boston, MA.
She is also survived by her six great grandchildren Justice Vozza and Avery Afonso; Connor, Caroline, and Henry Kiss; and James Graham.
A Memorial service will be held at the Southport Congregational Church, Southport, Connecticut in the Spring with details to be announced two weeks prior to the Service.
