In 1976 I worked at a company called Wertronix next door to Dayton Scale Model at the end of Culver Ave in Kettering. I had just graduated from high school in 1975. I got to know Tony because I would occasionally go to his shop to buy pop out of his pop machine. When Wertronix moved out of state Tony hired me to help work on a fiberglass job he had gotten for NASA making a very large acoustical horn for measuring sound waves. So, I spent 6 months doing that. Never itched so much in my life! Sometimes I'd go up the street to help Norm with the fiberglass tennis rackets. That was in a separate building. Norm took care of the tennis racket business and Tony handled other jobs that came their way. One day Norm had me take a few boxes of defective rackets to the incinerator off Springboro Pike and told me to toss the boxes into the pit. And stressed, "don't give these to anyone who might ask for one." Wouldn't you know, I backed the truck up to the edge, climbed in the bed and started to toss them in when some guy nearby asked if he could have one. "Nope. Sorry." I answered. Tony was a good guy to work for. He hired a young Vietnam refugee so he could make some money. Another time he hired some young kid who had been in trouble with the law. Wanted to give him a second chance. Wow, 46 years ago....seems like yesterday.

Tony and I shared woodworking. We worked on some small projects together. He often helped me out when I got lost making furniture. I´ll always remember his smile and sharing a glass of wine together. Karen his second wife was a close friend with my wife as they shared their love of dogs. They walked them together as we lived almost next door since they moved to Lyons Drive. Goodbye my friend, I will miss you.

My husband, Ron, and Tony joined the Army together. A few years later, Ron and I married. Tony created wooden flower boxes to fit over the end of each pew. Joan filled them with flowers. Almost two years later, we welcomed our precious daughter into the world. When we brought her home, Tony and Joan had come in and put beautiful finishes on her crib. Tony created a scalloped canopy to go over the top of the crib and Joan had sewn a delicate lace covering for it. It truly looked like a crib waiting for it´s Princess to arrive.
My husband passed away last year and even though we hadn´t been in contact with Tony for ages, he came here to Englewood to comfort me. We talked and laugh for hours. I could go on and on about this special, loving, kind man. To know him was to love him. RIP, my Dear Friend.

Bill Evans and I worked with Tony in encouraging his dream of a St.Vincent de Paul Hotel. We were so excited to see the first hotel of it's kind open. Tony loved his work with St.Vincent. I will always remember him for his determination on the hotel and the Job Center. I will be donating to Miami Valley Meals in his name. Thanks be to God for saints like Tony.

Dear Family
We share in your grief at this time, but also in the joy of having known Tony. He was true inspiration to all. He will always be known for his devotion to God, the Blessed Virgin and his family. His works of Charity will live forever in the hearts and minds of all the poor, disabled and unfortunate whom he nourished and helped. Tony's bags were packed full of charity and love and he was ready to go Home. We love you Tony, don't forget us.

I had the opportunity to work with Tony from 1983 until he sold out to Norm in 1999 so I heard all the good stories. Wow what a pair. Norm was the businessman and Tony as the dreamer. Together they built a company that built Lunar Lander models for NASA in 1969 that are still on display, they helped GEAE develop their engine projects including the new GEnx, and supported the US military with composite aircraft components for the F-16 and F-18.
Tony called Norman Rockwell to help some advertising on one of his projects but Mrs. Rockwell said Norman had retired about ten years before that. Tony also tried to buy the Spruce Goose, the world´s largest aircraft made of wood from Howard Hughes, Tony wanted to make it a restaurant, which is what it is today, forty years later.
Tony was full of compassion. He worked as a Chaplin´s Assistant in the Air Force. He worked tirelessly for the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Dayton. Tony helped build the first permanent homeless shelter in Dayton by renovating an old firehouse. He built the Edwin C Moses Job Center Dayton supporting adults, youth and veterans who are interested in finding work. He spent a month in India working with Mother Teresa´s organization to help the poor. He helped build a church in the South American country of Belize. He also drove a truck load of medical supplies to the Belize border, but was turned away and had to drive the truck back home.
Tony was a wonderful man and I´m honored to have worked for him and Norm.

I was 4 when Tony married my Aunt Joan. He was the BEST uncle...so much fun and so generous! He loved his wives, his kids and the community of mentally challenged and the poor. Tony definitely left the world a better place and this niece will miss him terribly!
