It has been a few years since Ms. Trout sadly passed and I am so sorry for her family who I hope is doing okay now. I didn´t know her well but I had her as a health teacher the year she passed. She made the class so fun and nice and I remember all the movies we watched. She was such a sweet teacher and I hope she rests in peace.

I was so shocked and devastated to hear about Susan. I knew her from an exchange program at NYU. We were roommate when we were in Shanghai and Hong Kong. We knew each other from the trip and became friends when we came back in NYC. She was also my corporative teacher during my student-teaching year. She is so kind, so positive and caring. She always make people laugh and feel comfortable to be with her. My condolences to her family and friends. She will always be missed and loved!

So sorry to hear this news. Susan was my tutor and friend in Booker T Washington school. I cannot believe this happened. She is the most strong and talented women I know and I still remember the last time I saw her with backpack and that big and warm smile. She told us that she was pursuing another career as school leaders. I missed her so much!

I was devastated to hear about Susan. Years ago I was lucky to perform with her for several years in a touring comedy and had the time of my life being the drummer for Instant Girl's "orchestra". She was also my roommate in NYC for a brief time and my heart is filled with so many incredible, joyful moments we all shared. I hope that her family, her children and all who loved her find some peace. I'll miss her terribly.

I had Ms. Trout briefly as a teacher in 7th grade (before spending the rest of the year abroad) but she always made an impression as a daredevil teacher who had lived many lives. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing.

Very sorry to hear this news. Ms. Trout taught both my children at Delta. She particularly influenced my daughter who has a love of the Chinese language, likely due to her exposure in Ms. Trout's class. Condolences to all who loved her.

This is such devastating news. Susan and I attended Trinity Repertory drama school together and then worked together and were roommates for a few years after. Susan was such an intelligent and creative person as well as funny and quirky. Love and blessings to the family. I´m so so sorry for your/our loss.

I will never forget accompanying my daughter Nelly Mecklenburg and Ms. Trout's 7th grade Humanities class to an almost deserted Metropolitan Museum shortly after September 11 while she was pregnant with the triplets. The students were so excited about her pregnancy, the ease and agility with which she carried on -- despite the dramatic historical moment and the triplets she was carrying-- and all she taught them about art ,artifacts, history, and writing -- and just being an interesting intrepid human being. With continuing gratitude for all she did as a teacher and many condolences to the family. (Atina Grossmann)

I was so terribly sorry to hear this news and send my deepest condolences to Susan's family and friends. I grew up with John and met Susan when they were vacationing on the Cape one summer before the triplets were born. She was incredibly warm, vivacious and full of life. May you be comforted by your many memories of her incredible zest for life during this difficult time. Janet Polstein (Mamaroneck HS Class of 1976/DANY 1985-1988)

We are heartbroken over the sudden loss of my sweet dear niece Susan!! She never bragged of all her accomplishments, she was always so down to earth and had the biggest heart. Such a loss! Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole family.. Pat, Timmy, Joanne, Nancy, Christine and Peter. As well as with her triplets Henry, James, and Isabella. Though she may be gone, she will always be loved and never forgotten. We love you Susie. -Love Uncle Kenny
