Helen Augustyn Obituary

Helen J. Augustyn
Helen J. Augustyn of Stamford was called home by our Creator, Our Almighty God, on Friday, March 25, 2022. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at her home in the Cove area of Stamford where she resided for over 65 years.
Helen was predeceased by her loving parents Stella and Martin Bienkowski, her beloved husband, Fred Augustyn, a Stamford Firefighter, a sister Victoria, and by two brothers, Peter and Stanley.
Helen is survived by her five loving children, Fred Jr., Bobby, Laura, Janice (Sam Razzaia) and Judy (Mike McSally); as well as by her four cherished grandchildren, Samantha, Matthew, Allison, and Stephanie.
Helen was born in the south end of Stamford and lived her early life by the Holy Name School, which she attended during her elementary years. She then graduated from Stamford High School, Class of '44. Helen (Banky) desired to do office work after high school and began her career at Yale & Town and Pitney Bowes.
Helen met her husband Fred at a dance at the Holy Name of Jesus Church and fell in love. They married on October 21, 1950, and honeymooned in St. Augustine, Florida. Upon their return, they started their family in their hometown of Stamford.
Helen always put her faith and family first. She embodied what it meant to be a mother. She was a stay-at-home mother for her five children while they were young. When they began school, she drove them to and from Holy Name School. As her children grew older, she worked part-time so she could always be there for them and take part in their afterschool activities. She was a great cook, baker and always had dinner on the table for her family, especially celebrating the Polish traditions and faithful holidays.
For over 25 years, she worked part-time at the Stamford Superior Drug Company. When she retired, she helped raise her grandchildren and cherished being part of their lives growing up.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, March 29th at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 325 Washington Blvd, in Stamford. Burial will be private.
Memorial contributions can be made in Helen's name to Holy Name of Jesus Church (holynamestamford.org) or to Women's Alzheimer's Movement (thewomensalzheimersmovement.org).
The family would like to thank Helen's fantastic medical team who took great care in giving her an exceptional quality of life, allowing her to remain in her home in her later years. Special thanks to Dr. Jim Brunetti, Greenwich Hospital as well as at the 4 Nurses Home Care Agency, with Chantal, her team, and aide Serwaa, who were always by her side, caring for her until the end.
Services have been entrusted to the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. To leave an expression of sympathy for the family online, please sign the family's guestbook at www.bosakfuneralhome.com.
