I am a little late with this, but just decided to Google Dave to see where he was. I met Dave at Smileys in Fairborn almost 50 years ago. He married my friend Dawn. Then when I got married in 1977, he DJ'd at my reception. We lost touch over the years, but I have such wonderful memories of him. Such a sweet man. RIP Dave.

I had known Dave since he went to work for WTUE Radio in the early 1970's. I was in high school then and wanting to be a DJ. I would stay in contact with him when I could from time to time. He, of course eventually left Ohio and went to California. But, in 2009, a "Reunion" of sorts was held at TGI Friday's at the Dayton Mall. By this time, I had come home to Dayton to work for Cox Media Group, where I still work today. Dave attended this reunion, and imagine my surprise when he looked up, spotted me, and in a very loud voice said, "Why Kevin Fodor, come over here! You BELONG here!" Now, I didn't work for WONE/WTUE till after Dave had left, so, why would he say that? Well, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch. I interviewed Dave, Dan Danes, Bill Struck and my friend Doug Sorrell...all of us had worked for Group One Broadcasting. Dave and I left that reunion together talking and at that moment, he turned to me and asked, "Kevin...do you mind if I ask you something?" I said, "Sure, Dave. What it it?" He replied, "You know, I always thought it was fantastic when I heard you were working for WHIO and the people at Cox. Do you plan on staying until you retire?" I said, "Well, Dave, I think that's the game plan." He looked at me, and smiled and said, "Good to hear. I really hoped you say that". That's the last thing Dave said to me. And I admit I cried a little bit in my car. People like Dave were big parts of my childhood and growing up. It was obvious I had a made a bigger impression on him than I thought when I was growing up. I had heard he was back in town before his death and I was trying to find him. It just didn't happen. But, farewell, my friend. I still have the airchecks, and I still do listen to them from time to time. And I have a few memos from 'TUE with your name on them. And some of those Tunedex Index Surveys with your picture on them. And I have the jingles Bill Struck made, including yours. I'll always do my best to keep the memories of those years alive in the minds of people here. And I thank you for being a friend.

Dave - I know you'll never read this, but you were a major influence in my life. I did what you advised me to do ten years ago and never forgot your advice. I am saddened to hear of your passing. I am praying for your family the city of Dayton will always remember "that guy on the radio" from my teen years.
