Adam Reid McCauley
January 9, 1981 - June 25, 2022
Adam Reid McCauley was born on January 9, 1981 in Houston, Texas. He was the third of four children of Suzanne Taylor McCauley and Richard Michael McCauley.
Adam had a sharp wit and a competitive spirit and was always ready for the next challenge. He was a leader with a larger-than-life personality. Everywhere he went he brought tons of laughs and happiness with him. His smile and laugh could instantly brighten anyone's day. He was a rock for his family, an amazing father, and had a strong faith in God.
Adam grew up in Houston, Texas and graduated from Stratford High School. He attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Petroleum Land Management. He was also a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He went on to pursue a career in the Oil and Gas industry as a Landman.
Adam met Meredith Slocum on the McKinney Avenue Trolley in Dallas, Texas in March 2010 while celebrating a mutual friend's birthday. He and Meredith began dating and were eventually married in Asheboro, North Carolina on March 31, 2012. They went on to have five (5) beautiful children.
Adam was a very successful Landman and developed many strong relationships along the way. In 2005, Adam began his career at Merit Energy Company in Dallas, Texas. He worked for multiple companies throughout his career, including Eiland Energy, Inc., Petrohawk Energy Corporation, BHP Billiton Petroleum, Carrizo Oil & Gas, Inc., and EOG Resources, Inc. His career took him to Dallas, Texas, Houston, Texas, Denver, Colorado, and back to Houston, Texas. Throughout his career, he was also an active member of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), the Houston Association of Professional Landmen (HAPL), and the Dallas Association of Petroleum Landmen (DAPL).
Adam passed away on June 25, 2022 in Galveston, Texas after a two (2) year battle with cancer surrounded by family and friends at the beach, a place he loved. He was 41 years old.
Adam is survived by his wife Meredith Slocum McCauley, and his five (5) children: John Clay McCauley (9), Jack Reid McCauley (7), Simms Claire McCauley (5), Evelyn Pope McCauley (2), and Morgan Wynn McCauley (2). He is also survived by his mother Suzanne Taylor McCauley of Katy, Texas; his brother Gregory Lawrence McCauley (wife Ashley Lynn McCauley) of Katy, Texas; his brother Matthew Taylor McCauley of Plano, Texas; his brother Michael Patrick McCauley of Houston, Texas; and his nieces and nephews: Madison Taylor McCauley, Kennedy Ann McCauley, William Gregory McCauley, and Aubrey Michael McCauley. Adam was preceded in death by his father Richard Michael McCauley; and grandparents Gilbert Thomas McCauley, Claire Gaudette McCauley, Jack Morgan Taylor, and Dorothy Kopecky Hudson.
Adam's family and friends will cherish their memories and the time they spent with him. He was adored by so many.

I had the honor of befriending Adam when we pledged for SAE in the fall of 99 at Texas Tech. His confidence had a friendliness that made him very easy to like. I remember as pledges, I went with him to an Active's house to get a "sig" or signature. Basically, we were supposed to do some chores to earn said sig, like cleaning dishes or mowing the lawn. But Adam was so personable and likable, that we ended up not having to do anything. Easiest sig ever! for me at least, all of Adam's sigs were always that easy. The world is a lesser place with out him. May he rest in peace and beyond. And may God be with you and your family in this very sad time.
